Major General Garza was born in Los Fresnos, Texas and began his career in the United States Air Force in 1969 as a Heavy Equipment Engineer. In 1970 after his military occupational skill training, he deployed to the Republic of South Vietnam for a 19-month tour of duty. In September 1971 he returned to the United States and in 1973 he closed out his Air Force career with an Honorable Discharge at the rank of Sergeant.
Following his discharge from the Air Force he attended Texas A&M University and in 1977 graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree. In 1978 he returned to military service in the United States Marine Corps as a Second Lieutenant of Infantry. In 1999 he earned a Masters Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in Newport Rhode Island. In an exciting and rewarding 34-year journey including combat tours in Desert Shield/Desert Storm and twice in Afghanistan plus a tour in Latin America, Major General Garza served in world-wide assignments as a Commander, Director, and Staff Officer.
His most important personal awards are his Combat Action Ribbons and The Order of Saint Maurice in the rank of Primicerius presented to him by the National Infantry Association for his selfless service, integrity, and professional competence to the infantryman and the nation. He retired from active service after 38 years and is now President and CEO of Lead Your Ship LLC, a Leadership Consulting LLC providing leadership fundamentals to high school and college students and enabling wounded warrior events and transitioning veterans. He lives in New Braunfels, Texas with his wife Carrie and their Golden Retriever Alex

Luncheon Guidelines for Members and Future Members
- Luncheons are held the 1st Wednesday of every month, except July.
- Hours are 11:15 AM to 1:00 PM
- Members can register online through their Member Information Center (MIC) account page under Events, Community/Chamber Calendar by accessing our website (www.bastropchamber.com), or by contacting the Chamber staff at (512) 303-0558 or info@bastropchamber.com.
- Members also can be added to the master registration list at the office to be included in all luncheons. All Master Luncheon Registration List additions must be accompanied by a valid credit card to be kept on file with the Chamber.
- Online registrations close on the Monday before the luncheon at 3 PM. Registrations by phone or email after this time will be accepted only if room is still available. No registrations or walk-ins will be accepted on the day of the luncheon.
- Our monthly Luncheons are an optional event and a fee is required to attend.
- Cost:
- Members - $25 per person when pre-registered, $30 late registration
- Future Members - $30 per person when pre-registered, $35 late registration (payment must be made at the time of registration).
- Online payments can be made by credit card (MC, Visa, Discover, AMEX). Only cash or check is accepted at the luncheon. Upon request, we can invoice members in good standing.
- There are no refunds or credits after 3:00pm on the Monday prior to Luncheon due to catering and convention headcounts confirmations being submitted.

Programming Guidelines
Programming is informational in nature and of general interest to Chamber Members and community members who attend.
- Luncheon Programming and Sponsors are determined in the fall of each year for the following calendar year.
- The Monthly Luncheon cannot be a fundraising opportunity for organizations.
- Requests to make an announcement during the Program will be considered at the discretion of the President. Any request must be submitted in writing and discussed with the President at least one week prior to the Luncheon.
- The Monthly Luncheon is a networking opportunity, so members may still hand out items personally to individuals at the luncheons for networking purposes or at the general information table.
- The ability to hand out literature/promotional items on the luncheon tables is reserved exclusively for the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce, the luncheon sponsor(s), and the luncheon speaker. No other handouts, information, gift items, or literature can be placed on the luncheon tables, and if any is found, the member will be asked to remove them. A general information table is provided for all others.
Exceptions to any of these guidelines require approval from the Board of Directors.
