Leap of Kindness Day 2024
What will you do with an extra day?
The Bastrop Chamber of Commerce's
#LeapOfKindnessDay will take place, on Thursday, February 29, 2024.
Leap of Kindness Day happens every 4 years and was originally started in 2016 by the Saratoga County Chamber. The idea is to get as many people in our community as possible to use the extra day we all get in a Leap Year to do something kind for someone else. Beyond Saratoga County, there were more than 200 chambers in 43 states who joined the Leap of Kindness Day celebration. They had thousands of people take part in the celebration of kindness. Some cooked breakfast or delivered lunch for first responders. Others delivered flowers or socks to residents in local retirement homes. Local employers collected clothes, food and money for a wide range of local charities. Others acted individually sending a thank you card to someone who meant a lot to them.
And now as we inch closer to Leap of Kindness Day 2024, the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce's goal is to see that even more individuals and employers come together to do something kind for someone else using the extra day they will get on February 29, 2024.
What will you do with an extra day in 2024?
On February 29, 2024, the Bastrop Chamber wants to invite you to use your extra day during Leap Year to do something kind for someone else. EVERYONE is invited to participate. Below are a wide range of ideas and suggestions to help you get started.
1. Organize a drive for essential items and personally deliver the collected goods to a local charity on February 29.
2. Express gratitude to first responders by delivering meals or snacks to your local fire, police, or EMS station on Leap of Kindness Day.
3. Dedicate February 29th to enhancing a public space - a park, trail, or playground - by cleaning, beautifying, or fixing amenities in need.
4. Encourage your children to write and deliver heartfelt thank you notes to educators, custodians, bus drivers, and others on February 29th.
5. Reach out to local care facilities, hospitals, senior or youth centers, and agencies assisting those with unique needs. Collect and deliver items tailored to their specific requirements on Leap of Kindness Day.
