    Job Description

    POSITION OVERVIEW           

    The primary role of the Communication & Media Manager is to administer brand, social media, and communications standards and talking points for the organization ensuring the Board of Directors, volunteers, and staff are consistent with messaging that supports and strengthens the mission and vision of the Chamber; edit, proofread, and/or write copy to establish a consistent, concise, and influential  image of the Chamber in all communications and media; the responsible for all development, design, and marketing campaigns for promoting & communicating Chamber events & initiatives; the design and update of all Chamber websites; on-going communication with membership; management of social media platforms; assist other staff in generating non-dues revenue through designated Chamber programs as directed by the President/CEO.

    POSITION REQUIREMENT

    Excellent computer and graphic design skills using Microsoft Office, PC, and smartphone apps and knowledge of/ability to research various other apps and programs to accomplish goals as set by the President/CEO; ability to create unique content for all social media platforms; extensive website management  and design knowledge; an advanced understanding of the internet and social media trends; marketing, brand creation, and brand maintenance experience; excellent organizational skills; advanced verbal and written communication skills; time and project management skills; the ability to work with fellow Chamber staff and the membership as needed; ability to manage several tasks simultaneously; excellent internet research and customer service skills; ability to work unsupervised and with deadlines; ability to make on the spot decisions in sometimes stressful situations while maintaining a professional and friendly attitude.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES
         

    • Maintain all Chamber websites and collections data, oversee the Chamber calendars of events online and keep members and the public aware of events that are on the Chamber and Community calendars.
    • Creation of digital media and presentations, including filming and editing short videos for events, web and social media platforms.

    • Design and implement marketing and promotional materials for events, as well as in-house materials (brochures, applications) for print and digital media.

    • Design monthly e-newsletter and weekly email blast utilizing Constant Contact to keep members informed of Chamber events and communications.

    • Keep all Constant Contact lists updated and current using the tools built into the service and ChamberMaster reports.

    • Coordinate information gathering, design, and research for newsletter published in Bastrop Advertiser.

    • Assist with project management to achieve quality event production, as directed by the President/CEO.

    • Update and maintain Chamber websites using Wix and ChamberMaster web management platforms, and research new and more effective ways to communicate using the Chamber websites.

    • Analyze event promotion and develop short and long-term strategies for best allocation of resources and most effective communication.

    • Produce content for regular and consistent social media interactions with membership and the public.

    • Direct, film, and edit photography/videography at Chamber events for use in Chamber promotional materials or for social media/web distribution.

    • Recognize Chamber members for specific accomplishments and promote through all Chamber communications.

    • Other duties as assigned by President/CEO.

    SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Operate office equipment, including computers and membership management databases, make recommendations on technology upgrades.

    • Keep electronic files updated and in the network for staff to access using prescribed network storage and naming policies.

    • Keep office and work area in presentable, uncluttered fashion.

    • Have a working knowledge of all areas of the Chamber including office procedures, the Chamber Strategic Plan, and the Vision and Mission of the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce.

     
    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Associate’s or higher Degree in Communications, Advertising, Graphic Design or similar field of study or High School Diploma together with 2 years or greater experience in relevant Graphic, Digital, and Web Design as well as a strong background in social media management.

    • An active driver’s license, as this position does require travel to local places of business and the use of a personal vehicle may be required.

     
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

    • Set up and tear down at Chamber events, focusing on IT and Audio/visual aspects but frequently assisting in other areas to ensure a successful event.

    • Frequent walking, standing, and sitting while working with desktop computers or other technology.

    • Pushing and pulling of file cabinet drawers and occasional but minimal overhead lift.

     
    SALARY AND BENEFITS
    Commensurate with experience/qualifications.
    Simple IRA Match.
    Two (2) weeks paid vacation.
    13 paid holidays.
    Six (6) days of sick leave per year.
    Normal Hours of Operations with some over-time for special events.
